Rolling Stones - Goats Head Soup (Rolling Stones, 1973)

Rolling Stones - Goats Head Soup
Stale roguishness. Not a good LP!

Notes
  1. An alternative anagram, which can be read as a band member's response to the foregoing: Our song 'Angie' sold lots," he spat.

Mick Jagger - She's the Boss (Columbia, 1985)

Mick Jagger - She's the Boss
M.J. cheers. Keith gags, sobs.

Notes
  1. According to Wikipedia, "When the Stones signed with CBS Records in 1983, one of the options available to them was for individual projects, and Jagger—ready to turn his back on his friends after recording exclusively with them for 20 years—eagerly began working on She's the Boss....Keith Richards, Jagger's longtime musical partner in the Rolling Stones, was not pleased that Jagger was pursuing solo work, feeling that their band should be each others' first priority."

The Rolling Stones - Undercover (Rolling Stones, 1983)

The Rolling Stones - Undercover
Elders go current! It's novel, hon!

Notes
  1. According to Wikipedia, "With the advent of the MTV generation, the band attempted to re-invent themselves for a new era....Jagger was keenly aware of new styles and wanted to keep the Rolling Stones current and experimental, while Richards was seemingly more focused on the band's rock and blues roots. As a result, there was friction, and the tension between the two key members would increase over the upcoming years."
  2. Alternative anagram: Note the relics' novel sound? Grr.

The Rolling Stones - Black and Blue (Rolling Stones, 1976)

The Rolling Stones - Black and Blue
Challenge on Sunset billboard TK.

Notes
  1. Atlantic Records posted a billboard for this album on the Sunset Strip in June of 1976. It featured a bound woman saying, "I'm 'Black and Blue' from the Rolling Stones -- and I love it!" The billboard was removed following protests by an organization called Women Against Violence Against Women.
  2. "TK" is a standard editorial abbreviation for "to come."

The Rolling Stones - Their Satanic Majesties Request (Decca, 1967)

The Rolling Stones - Their Satanic Majesties Request
Artists test major hallucinogens (ten hits). EQ's eerie!

Their Satanic Majesties Request

Notes
  1. According to Mick Jagger, "There's a lot of rubbish on Satanic Majesties. Just too much time on our hands, too many drugs, no producer to tell us, 'Enough already, thank you very much, now can we get just get on with this song?' Anyone let loose in the studio will produce stuff like that." Fortunately, the band regained its focus and discipline in time to churn out several dozen filler-free blues-rock albums.

The Rolling Stones - Sticky Fingers (Rolling Stones, 1971)

The Rolling Stones - Sticky Fingers
Gross content! Keith fills syringe.

 Sticky Fingers

Notes
  1. "Keith was holding a huge horse syringe behind his back....Richards turned and plunged the needle into his forearm. Then he injected the contents slowly, with a slight sigh....The young woman with Keith's friend turned pale and had to lie down on some cushions." Christopher Sandford, Keith Richards: Satisfaction (Da Capo, 2004).

  2. Alternative anagram: Gerontologist: "Yes, band ebbs. No thrill!"
